A disciple of Yuanshi Tianzun at Yuxu Palace, he was ordered to descend the mountain to assist a wise ruler. He once opened a fortune-telling shop in Zhaoge and burned the pipa spirit to death, then lived in seclusion by the Wei River fishing, and was hired as prime minister by King Wen. He led the Zhou army eastward to conquer King Zhou and presided over the canonization of the gods.
