Originally the commander of Sanshan Pass in the Shang Dynasty, he was ordered to attack Xiqi. Because his daughter Deng Chanyu married Tu Xingsun, he surrendered to the Zhou Dynasty. He followed Jiang Ziya on the eastern campaign and killed many enemy generals, but was later captured and killed by Chen Qi in Xiqi.
