Qi Zhuang Gong attacks Jin
Regarding Qi's act of taking advantage of another's misfortune, the Records of the Grand Historian, chapter on the Hereditary House of Qi Tai Gong, briefly records: 'In the fourth year, Qi Zhuang Gong sent Luan Ying secretly into Quwo of Jin as an internal agent, with troops following him, ascending the Taihang Mountains and entering Mengmen.' The Chronicles of the Eastern Zhou Kingdoms, chapter 064, reproduces with literary brushwork his unwillingness to accept defeat: 'Furthermore, Qi Zhuang Gong, because the attack on Jin had not achieved complete success, his ambitious heart did not die. Returning to Qi territory, he refused to enter, saying: "In the battle of Pingyin, the Ju people wanted to attack Qi from their own countryside; this grudge must also be avenged!"'
