History vs. fiction
A Wei general who, in official history, was known for his sharp reasoning and later secretly plotted rebellion after the conquest of Shu.
According to the Records of the Three Kingdoms, Book of Wei, Biography of Zhong Hui, after the conquest of Shu, Zhong Hui, blinded by greed, conspired with Jiang Wei to rebel against Wei from Shu, but was killed when his troops mutinied. The original text: 「姜维率会左右战，手杀五六人，众既格斩维，争赴杀会。」 (Source: Book of Wei, Biographies of Wang, Guanqiu, Zhuge, Deng, and Zhong.txt)

The official histories such as "Records of the Three Kingdoms, Book of Wei, Biography of Zhong Hui" contain no records of dream messages. In the novel, Zhong Hui's visit to Zhuge Liang's temple and receiving a dream admonition to stop killing is a literary embellishment depicting the mandate of heaven.
