In fiction · Romance of the Three Kingdoms
Second son of Guan Yu, during Liu Bei's campaign against Wu, he slew Pan Zhang, his father's murderer. Later he followed Zhuge Liang on the Northern Expeditions, repeatedly distinguishing himself in battle. He once rescued Zhao Yun, killed Dong Xi, and intercepted Jiang Wei. After his death from illness, Zhuge Liang wept bitterly.
