In fiction · Romance of the Three Kingdoms
Zhang Bao was the son of Zhang Fei, and he became sworn brothers with Guan Xing. When Liu Bei attacked Wu, he requested to be the vanguard and went on the campaign to avenge his father. Later, he followed Zhuge Liang on the Northern Expeditions, repeatedly rescuing Shu troops. He saved Zhao Yun and Guan Xing, slew Wei general Xue Ze, and fought with Jiang Wei. While pursuing Guo Huai, he fell into a ravine and died of his injuries.
