The plot of Zhao Kuo replacing Lian Po based on empty talk
According to the Records of the Grand Historian, Biography of Lian Po and Lin Xiangru, Zhao Kuo's mother wrote to the King of Zhao, saying: 'Now if Kuo is made a general, he will face east and receive the homage of his officers, and none of them will dare to look up at him... Father and son have different hearts, I hope you will not send him.' The scene in the novel where Zhao's mother tries to stop him from going to war originates from this.
