History vs. fiction
Whether the number of Zhao soldiers killed by Bai Qi in the Battle of Changping is exaggerated
According to the Records of the Grand Historian, Biography of Bai Qi and Wang Jian: 'When Zhao's army was defeated, 400,000 soldiers surrendered to Lord Wu'an... Then he used deception and killed them all, leaving 240 young ones to return to Zhao.' The shocking number of 400,000 in the novel is not literary exaggeration but a faithful record from historical sources.
