The Records of the Grand Historian, 'Annals of Qin', records: 'Meng Ao attacked Gaodu and Ji of Wei, and captured them.' Subsequently, '(In the fourth year) Wang He attacked Shangdang.' However, the Chronicles of the Eastern Zhou Kingdoms, Chapter 101, records that Meng Ao 'because he attacked Gaodu of Wei and did not capture it, the King of Qin again sent Wang He with 50,000 troops to assist.'
