Minister over the Masses, conspired with Lü Bu to assassinate Dong Zhuo. Minister over the Masses, secretly plotted to kill Zhuo, recruited Lü Bu as an inside man, later enfeoffed Lü Bu as Marquis of Wen. Minister over the Masses, together with Lü Bu killed Dong Zhuo.
In fiction · Romance of the Three Kingdoms
Serving as Minister over the Masses, advised Dong Zhuo to postpone the discussion of deposing the emperor. Held a banquet to gather众人 to plot the removal of Dong Zhuo, used Diao Chan to set up a chain of schemes to sow discord between Dong Zhuo and Lü Bu, and finally used Lü Bu's hand to kill Dong Zhuo. When Dong Zhuo's remaining partisans counterattacked, Wang Yun was killed.

The death of Wang Yun

The novel describes that after Li Jue and Guo Si attacked Chang'an, Wang Yun jumped from the Xuanping Gate tower, shouted his name, and was then killed by the two rebels below the tower (Chapter 9 of Romance of the Three Kingdoms: "Wang Yun jumped down from the Xuanping Gate tower, shouting: 'Wang Yun is here!' ... The two rebels raised their hands and killed Wang Yun below the tower."). In the official history, it is only briefly recorded that Li Jue and others breached Chang'an, Wang Yun was killed, and his corpse was exposed in the market, with no mention of jumping from the tower or angrily rebuking the rebels face-to-face (Records of the Three Kingdoms, Book of Wei, Biographies of Dong Zhuo, Yuan Shao, and Liu Yan: "Those who killed Zhuo, the corpse of Wang Yun was exposed in the market.").
