A cultivator from Nine Dragon Island and progenitor of the Plague Department of the Jie Sect, he led Zheng Lun and his disciples down the mountain to assist Shang in attacking Zhou, spreading plague to besiege Xiqi. After being defeated by Jiang Ziya and others, he reappeared and set up the Plague Array, ultimately being burned to ashes by Yang Ren using the Five Fire Divine Fan. He was later enshrined on the Investiture List as the Great Emperor of Plague and Pestilence.
