In fiction · Journey to the West
The Scorpion Spirit is a female demon in the Pipa Cave on Poison Enemy Mountain. She once stung the Tathagata Buddha's left middle finger with her venomous stinger, and also stung Sun Wukong's scalp and Zhu Bajie's lips. She captured the Tang monk intending to marry him, but was later subdued when Sun Wukong entered her belly. Additionally, a lesser demon was startled by Zhu Bajie while drawing water at the Bottomless Cave, and she chased after him with a club.
