History vs. fiction
Gan Luo's deeds mistakenly attributed to Xi Qi
In the various chapters of the Records of the Grand Historian, there is no account of Xi Qi of the state of Jin or Qi being appointed as Senior Minister at the age of twelve. In the 104th chapter of the Chronicles of the Eastern Zhou Kingdoms, the person who at twelve cleverly persuaded Zhang Tang and the King of Zhao and was appointed as Senior Minister is Gan Luo: "There was Gan Luo, grandson of Gan Mao, though young in years... The King of Qin appointed Gan Luo as Senior Minister." Here, the myth and legend mistakenly attribute Gan Luo's deeds to Xi Qi, which is a misplaced fictional character setting in the novel.
