Discrepancy in the recorded official rank at the time of welcoming Qian Weijun in the sixth year of Qiande

  The History of Song, Hereditary Houses, chapter 3, records that when he welcomed Qian Weijun, his rank was Drafter of the Secretariat: 'In the sixth year, he came to court again, attended the suburban sacrifice, and was ordered to welcome and reward him as Drafter of the Secretariat and Drafter of Imperial Edicts, Lu Duoxun.' However, the History of Song, Biographies of Xue Juzheng, Wei Ji, Shen Lun, Ji Zong, Lu Duoxun, Song Qi, and Song Xiong, records that in the third year of Qiande he was already Director of the Bureau of Military Affairs: 'In the second year of Qiande, he temporarily took charge of the imperial examinations. In the third year, he was promoted to Director of the Bureau of Military Affairs. In the fourth year, he again temporarily took charge of the imperial examinations. In the sixth year, he was promoted to Compiler of the Historiography Institute and in charge of the institute.' The rank of Director is higher than that of Drafter, so the two records are contradictory.
