In fiction · Journey to the West
Chen Guanbao was the son of Chen Qing, only seven years old. Because the Great King of Inspired Spirit at the Tongtian River required a pair of boy and girl as sacrifices each year, Chen Guanbao was chosen as the offering. Later, with the help of Sun Wukong, who transformed into his substitute, he was ultimately rescued. After the pilgrimage returned, Chen Guanbao and Yi Chengjin together thanked Tang Sanzang and his disciples.
