In contrast, the Chronicles of the Eastern Zhou Kingdoms, Chapter 92, adds the plot to deceive the King of Chu, depicting his cunning: 'King Zhao of Qin sent his younger brother, Lord Jingyang, named Kui, riding in the king's chariot with feather banners and full retinue, pretending to be the King of Qin, stationed at Wuguan; he sent General Bai Qi with ten thousand troops to ambush inside the pass to seize the King of Chu; he sent General Meng Ao with ten thousand troops to ambush outside the pass to guard against emergencies.'
