According to the annotation by Pei Songzhi in the 'Records of the Three Kingdoms, Book of Shu, Biography of Zhuge Liang', which cites the 'Han-Jin Spring and Autumn', Zhuge Liang's southern campaign involved capturing and releasing Meng Huo seven times, causing him to submit sincerely, and the southern regions were thus pacified.
