According to Records of the Three Kingdoms, Book of Wei, Annals of Emperor Ming, and the Book of Jin, when Meng Da planned to rebel in Xincheng and return to Shu, Sima Yi took him by surprise, marching rapidly for eight days to besiege and execute him.
