The specific process and location of King Xi of Yan killing Crown Prince Dan differ
According to the Records of the Grand Historian, Biographies of Assassins, Li Xin pursued Crown Prince Dan, and 'Dan hid in the Yan River, whereupon King Yan sent an envoy to behead Crown Prince Dan.' However, in the Chronicles of the Eastern Zhou Kingdoms, Chapter 107, it is recorded that Crown Prince Dan 'hid himself on Peach Blossom Island,' and King Xi of Yan 'pretended to summon Crown Prince Dan to discuss matters, got him drunk with wine, strangled him to death, and then cut off his head.'
