In fiction · Investiture of the Gods
A famous founding general of the Western Zhou, originally a minister of Shang who later submitted to Ji Chang. He once accompanied King Wen on a journey and was ordered to invite worthy men. In Xiqi, he served as a general and military administrator, holding the banner of military law. He led troops into battle many times, intercepted Shang generals, raided camps to rescue generals, and ignited cannons to assist in battle.

History vs. fiction
In official history, Xin Jia was a minister of the Shang dynasty who, after remonstrating with King Zhou seventy times to no avail, defected to the Zhou and became a key minister. The novel retains his background of abandoning Shang for Zhou but adds a layer of immortal and military campaigns.
According to the "Guoyu·Jinyu IV", Xin Jia was originally a high official of the Shang dynasty, who, after remonstrating with King Zhou of Shang seventy times to no avail, defected to King Wen of Zhou and became a key minister in the founding of the Zhou dynasty. The novel's portrayal of his identity as a remonstrating official who defected to Zhou is based on official history. According to "Fengshen Yanyi·Chapter 024", the novel also depicts him by King Wen's side: 「臣等随使，南宫适、辛甲保驾」
