In fiction · Journey to the West
Xiang Liang was a native of Kaifeng Prefecture, Henan. Originally a poor water seller in Junzhou, he accumulated gold and silver in the underworld through giving alms to monks. He refused to accept the gold and silver, so the underworld kept them on his behalf.
