  In the Battle of Xiapi, Lü Bu's generals betrayed him. The official history, Records of the Three Kingdoms, Book of Wei, Biography of Lü Bu, Zhang Miao, and Zang Hong, records: 'The太祖 dug a moat and besieged him for three months; the upper and lower were estranged, and his generals Hou Cheng, Song Xian, and Wei Xu bound Chen Gong and led their troops to surrender.' What was bound was Chen Gong. However, in Chapter 19 of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the credit for capturing Lü Bu is given to them: 'Song Xian drove away the attendants, first stole his halberd, then together with Wei Xu, they tied Lü Bu with ropes and bound him tightly.'
