History vs. fiction
Did Qu Wu ever remonstrate against accepting Xia Ji and flee to Jin to offer a plan?
The Records of the Grand Historian, in the 'Hereditary House of Jin' and the 'Hereditary House of Wu Taibo', records detailed historical facts such as 'Chu's Shen Gong Wuchen stole Xia Ji and fled to Jin... then requested to be sent as envoy to Wu, had his son serve as Wu's official, and taught Wu to use chariots and soldiers. Wu and Jin first communicated, and agreed to attack Chu.' The novel 'Chronicles of the Eastern Zhou Kingdoms' describes his remonstration against King Zhuang of Chu accepting Xia Ji, his eventual escape to Jin with Xia Ji, and his plan to ally with Wu to contain Chu, which is completely consistent with historical records and is a faithful narration of real historical events.
