History vs. fiction
Did King Wu of Qin die from injuries sustained while lifting a cauldron?
The Records of the Grand Historian, in the 'Basic Annals of Qin', records in detail the personality trait of 'King Wu being strong and fond of games', as well as the famous historical event in his later years: 'King Wu, together with Meng Shuo, lifted a cauldron, breaking his shinbone. In the eighth month, King Wu died.' The plot in the novel Chronicles of the Eastern Zhou Kingdoms, chapter 92, about King Wu of Qin being fond of valor and lifting the Zhou cauldron with strongmen in Luoyang, the capital of Zhou, resulting in a broken shinbone and death, is a faithful retelling of the actual historical records, not a fabrication.
