Mingyue is a Taoist boy attendant under Zhen Yuanzi of Five Villages Temple, responsible together with Qingfeng for guarding the temple. When Tang Sanzang and his disciples passed by Five Villages Temple, Mingyue and Qingfeng received them together. Later, when they discovered the ginseng fruit had been stolen, Mingyue and Qingfeng reported it to Zhen Yuanzi together.
