Lingji Bodhisattva, by the decree of Tathagata Buddha, subdued the Yellow Wind Monster using the Flying Dragon Staff. Later, at Little Sumeru Mountain, he gave Sun Wukong the Wind-Calming Pill to help him counter Princess Iron Fan's Banana Leaf Fan.

The name of Bodhisattva Lingji does not exist in orthodox Buddhism

In Chapter 21 of 'Journey to the West', it is written that Bodhisattva Lingji subdues the Yellow Wind Monster with the Wind-Fixing Pill. In the Buddhist list of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, there is no Bodhisattva Lingji; this is a fictional Buddhist master created by the novel to advance the plot. Original text: "那个能定他的风势，只除是灵吉菩萨来是。" (Chapter 21 of 'Journey to the West').
