In fiction · Journey to the West
The Giant Spirit God is a vanguard general under the Pagoda-Bearing Heavenly King Li Jing. After Sun Wukong declared himself the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, the Jade Emperor sent heavenly troops to subdue him. The Giant Spirit God was the first to go into battle, fighting Sun Wukong, but soon was defeated and fled back to his own ranks.
