In fiction · Journey to the West
Jintou Jiedi is one of the Five Directional Guardians, staying by Tang Sanzang's side day and night. When Tang Sanzang's mount was eaten by the Little White Dragon, he went to the South Sea to ask the Bodhisattva to subdue the dragon. Later, he joined the other guardians to watch and assist in battle, and also escorted the local deity.
