The official history Records of the Three Kingdoms, Book of Wei, Biographies of the Various Xiahou and Cao, records: 'Thereupon they arrested Shuang, Xi, Xun, Yan, Yang, Mi, Gui, Sheng, Fan, Dang, and others, and all were executed.' Romance of the Three Kingdoms, chapter 107, adds the plot that Sima Yi falsely claimed the Empress Dowager's authority: 'The Empress Dowager, in fear, had no choice but to comply. Yi urgently ordered Grand Commandant Jiang Ji and Master of Writing Sima Fu to jointly submit a memorial.'
