Is “The fate of Zhang Miao after the defeat and the manner of Zhang Chao's death in the novel differ from the official history.” true?

After the defeat in Yanzhou, the official history Records of the Three Kingdoms, Book of Wei, Annals of Emperor Wu records that Zhang Chao defended Yongqiu, and "when Yongqiu fell, Chao committed suicide. The three clans of Miao were executed. Miao went to Yuan Shu to request aid, and was killed by his own men." However, in Chapter 12 of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, it does not mention that Zhang Miao was killed by his subordinates or that his three clans were executed, only saying that when Dingtao fell in battle, "Zhang Chao set himself on fire, and Zhang Miao went to Yuan Shu," with no further explanation afterward.
