Is “What were the differences in Yuwen Shiji's actions during the late Sui Dynasty upheaval?” true?

Both the history and the novel record his choice after Yuwen Huaji's revolt. The 'Old Book of Tang, Biography of Yuwen Shiji' states: 'Soon Huaji was captured by Dou Jiande. The powerful families of Jibei mostly urged Shiji to raise the men of Qing and Qi, strike Jiande from the north, take the lands north of the Yellow River, and watch how matters developed. Shiji did not accept, and surrendered together with Feng Lun and the others.'
