Is “Why Yang Yi committed suicide after being demoted” true?

In the official history, after Yang Yi was exiled, he again submitted a memorial slandering others, and only when the court ordered his arrest did he commit suicide: "When Yi arrived at the place of exile, he again submitted a memorial full of slander, with fierce and vehement words, so the commandery was ordered to arrest Yi. Yi committed suicide" (Records of the Three Kingdoms, Book of Shu, Biographies of Liu, Peng, Liao, Li, Liu, Wei, and Yang). In the novel, it is rewritten as him directly committing suicide out of shame after being demoted: "So Yang Yi was demoted to Hanzhong and made a commoner in Jia County. Yi, ashamed, cut his own throat and died" (Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Chapter 105).
