Is “Did he ever appoint Sun Bin as a guest minister?” true?

In Chapter 88 of Chronicles of the Eastern Zhou Kingdoms, it is said that King Hui of Wei personally welcomed Sun Bin and 'immediately appointed Bin as a guest minister, granting him a residence second only to Pang Juan's.' However, in Records of the Grand Historian: Biographies of Sun Tzu and Wu Qi, there is no record of King Hui of Wei heavily employing Sun Bin; it only records that Sun Bin later fled to Qi and was treated with courtesy: 'When Qi envoys arrived in Liang, Sun Bin met them in secret as a convict... General Tian Ji of Qi treated him well and hosted him as a guest.' The novel fabricated this episode to increase the conflict between the two men.
