Is “Guan Yu appointed this position when he guarded Jingzhou” true?

The official history Records of the Three Kingdoms, Book of Wu, Biographies of He, Quan, Lü, Zhou, and Zhongli only records: 'When Pan Jun died, Dai succeeded him in leading Jingzhou's documents.' In Chapter 73 of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, it is detailed that Guan Yu, on guard against Eastern Wu, said, 'I have already sent Administrator Pan Jun to guard it,' but Wang Fu admonished, 'Pan Jun is usually suspicious and fond of profit; he should not be employed.'
