The novel writes that Grand Marshal Hong Xin of the palace "went to Longhu Mountain in Xinzhou, Jiangxi, to summon the Celestial Master Zhang of the Han dynasty to come to court day and night" (Water Margin, Chapter 1), but mistakenly opened the Demon-Suppressing Hall, and "with a loud noise, a black qi rolled up from the cave, collapsing half of the hall's corner. That black qi rushed straight into the sky, scattering into a hundred beams of golden light, and went in all directions" (Water Margin, Chapter 1). In the History of Song, there is no such person as Grand Marshal Hong Xin of the palace; the related plot is purely fictional.
