Is “Portrayed as the son of Bo Xiwan” true?

Records of the Grand Historian, Biography of Wu Zixu clearly records that Bo Pi was the grandson of Bo Zhouli, a minister of the state of Chu, and fled to the state of Wu after his family was executed (「楚诛其大臣郤宛、伯州犁，伯州犁之孙伯嚭亡奔吴，吴亦以嚭为大夫。」Source: Biography of Wu Zixu.txt). Although the novel retains the historical framework of his fleeing to Wu after his family was massacred and being appointed to a high position, it rewrites the familial relationship, directly calling him the son of the murdered minister Bo Xiyuan, shortening the generational gap to enhance the dramatic tension.
