In fiction · Journey to the West
Yin Kaishan was the Prime Minister of the Tang Dynasty. His daughter married Chen Guangrui and gave birth to Xuanzang. Later, Chen Guangrui was murdered, and Yin Kaishan led troops to capture the murderer Liu Hong, avenging his son-in-law. After Xuanzang found his relatives, Yin Kaishan, as his grandfather, also served as a general in the current dynasty.

In the novel, Yin Kaishan becomes Tang Seng's maternal grandfather
In the official history "Old Book of Tang", Yin Kaishan was a renowned founding general of the Tang Dynasty. However, in Chapter 009 of "Journey to the West", he is depicted as the prime minister of the current dynasty and the maternal grandfather of Tang Sanzang, having led troops to Jiangzhou to suppress water bandits.
