Manjushri Bodhisattva transformed into a beautiful woman to participate in the enlightenment. His mount, the green-haired lion, once descended to the mortal world as a demon. Manjushri, following the Buddha's command, subdued it and explained the cause and effect.

In 《封神演义》 volume 038, Wenshu Guangfa Tianzun is set as one of the Twelve Golden Immortals of the Chan Sect. However, in 《西游记》 chapter 039, he is a bodhisattva of Mount Wutai in Buddhism, with a green-haired lion as his mount. The original text says: "原来是文殊菩萨。" It also says: "菩萨，这是你坐下的一个青毛狮子，却怎么走将来成精，你就不收服他？" (《西游记·第039回》)
