Records of the Grand Historian gives Qing Bu a single-person biography, while History of Han downgrades him to a joint biography of five kings of different surnames.

In Records of the Grand Historian, the Biography of Qing Bu is a single-person, single-volume biography, emphasizing his sudden rise from punishment to kingship and his fall: 'Ying Bu, was he not a descendant of Gao Yao, whose states Ying and Liu were destroyed by Chu in the Spring and Autumn period? He suffered corporal punishment, yet how suddenly he rose to power!' In History of Han, the joint biography of Han, Peng, Ying, Lu, and Wu places him with Han Xin, Peng Yue, and others in one volume, with only a general judgment on kings of different surnames who rebelled: 'Suspected because of their power, they could not feel secure; when circumstances were desperate, they plotted rebellion and finally perished.'
