Where the histories differ
The specific year in which the Tibetan defender of Weizhou, Xidamou, surrendered to Tang is recorded differently in the two histories.
The New Book of Tang, in the chapter on Tibet (part 2), records this event as occurring in the fifth year of Dahe: “五年，维州守将悉怛谋挈城以降，剑南西川节度使李德裕受之”. The Old Book of Tang, in the biographies of Linghu Chu, Niu Sengru, Xiao Mian, and Li Shi, places it in the sixth year of Dahe: “六年，吐蕃遣使论董勃义入朝修好。俄而西川节度李德裕奏，吐蕃维州守将悉怛谋以城降.” The two records differ in the year.
