A rebel minister, captured by Niu Gao; military governor of Lin'an, requested moving the capital, later appointed commander-in-chief. Historically, Miao Fu indeed existed. His deeds are recorded in historical sources such as the History of Song. For example, in the Annals of Emperor Gaozong, Volume 2, it is recorded: 'In the twelfth month, on the day Yimao, the Empress Dowager arrived at Hangzhou, and the accompanying commander Miao Fu stationed his army of eight thousand at Fengguo Temple. On the day Gengshen, the Jin invaders attacked Dongping Prefecture, and the military commissioner of Jingdong and Jingxi circuits, Quan Bangyan, abandoned the city and fled. They also attacked Jinan Prefecture, and the prefect Liu Yu surrendered the city. On the day Jiazi, the Jin invaders captured Daming Prefecture, where the judicial official Guo Yong cursed the enemy and refused to submit, dying; the transport judge Pei Yi surrendered. They also captured Xiqing Prefecture. On the day Yichou, they captured Guo Prefecture. On the day Bingyin, the emperor first ordered the compilation of the national history. On the day Jisi, Huang Qianshan was appointed Left Vice Director of the Department of State Affairs and concurrently Attendant of the Secretariat, Wang Boyan Right Vice Director and concurrently Attendant of the Zhongshu, Yan Qi Attendant of the Chancellery, Zhu Shengfei Attendant of the Secretariat, and Minister of War Lu Yi as Assistant Director of the Bureau of Military Affairs. On the day Xinwei, the Jin invaders attacked Qing Prefecture. On the day Dingchou, the specially promoted retired official Yu Shen and the honored retired official Xue Ang were both demoted and sent to Jinchang Army and Huizhou to reside. Geng Nanzhong was further demoted to be the assistant of Dan Prefecture, and Tang Ke was stripped of his title of Grand Academician of the Guanwen Hall. On the day Wuyin, the Minister of Rites Zhang Jun was appointed concurrently as military advisor to the Imperial Guards, to train long weapons. That winter, Du Chong broke the Yellow River dikes, diverting the water from Si to Huai, to block the Jin troops.' In the novel 'The Story of Yue Fei', Chapter 46 describes: 'At the fifth watch the next day, all the generals arrived at the drill ground to wait. Wang Yuan checked the generals and saw that all were present except the Left Commander-in-Chief Miao Fu and Right Commander-in-Chief Liu Zhengyan. Marshal Wang again sent an officer to urge them. After a while, the officer returned and reported: 'The two commanders have gone to the Western Mountains to hunt by imperial order and cannot come to attend.' Marshal Wang had no choice but to proceed with the other generals to offer sacrifices to the flags, and after drilling the troops for a while, he returned to his office. When he reached Zhong'an Bridge, he happened to meet Miao and Liu, who were drunk, riding with several retainers. They tried to avoid him but could not, so they dismounted, lowered their heads, and stood at the door of a house. Wang Yuan saw them from his horse and ordered: 'Call them over!' The two had no choice but to walk to Marshal Wang's horse, bow, and stand.'
