Liu Guangshi刘光世
A Southern Song general. In the novel 'The Complete Story of Yue Fei', he is the military governor of Xiangzhou, appreciates Yue Fei, helps him restore his family property, and recommends him to Zong Ze. Later he comes to the aid of the Yue family. In official history, he once aided Yue Fei, suppressed Li Cheng, and rose to the rank of Grand Commandant and Military Commissioner of Huainan.

A Southern Song general. He served as Deputy General of Fuyan and Commander of the Five Armies. He was promoted to Military Commissioner of Fengguo for his achievements in suppressing bandits. Later, he suppressed Li Cheng and was appointed Commander of the Palace Guard, eventually reaching the rank of Grand Commandant and Military Commissioner of Huainan. He once sent troops to rescue Yue Fei and served as reinforcements in the Battle of Xiangyang, but also considered abandoning Luzhou.

In 'The Complete Story of Yue Fei', Liu Guangshi serves as the military governor of Xiangzhou. Appreciating Yue Fei, he orders Xu Ren to investigate and return the property seized from the Yue family, and writes a letter recommending Yue Fei to Zong Ze. He also prepares provisions for Niu Gao and later trains troops to come to the aid of the Yue family.

Liu Guangshi's avoidance of battle and his image as a talent scout
As a historical figure, the History of Song, Biography of Yue Fei records that 'Yue Fei declined, so he sent Yue Fei on a campaign, and ordered Liu Guangshi to send troops to support Yue Fei.' In the novel The Story of Yue Fei, Chapter 7, he is included in a specific list of deployment: 'Because the Grand Coordinator of Xiangzhou, Lord Liu, sent a dispatch to the county, all military arts candidates were to go there for examination, and only after passing could they go to the capital for the imperial examination,' making him a stereotypical minor character.
