History vs. fiction
The entire process of Jing Ke's assassination attempt on the King of Qin: the novel is extremely faithful to the official history.
The Records of the Grand Historian, Biographies of Assassins, records in detail the thrilling sequence of Jing Ke presenting the map of Dukang, the dagger revealed when the map was unrolled, King Zheng of Qin panicking and running around a pillar, and the imperial physician Xia Wuju throwing his medicine bag at Jing Ke. In Chapter 107 of the Chronicles of the Eastern Zhou Kingdoms, the entire process of Jing Ke's assassination attempt on the King of Qin, including the farewell at the Yi River where Gao Jianli played the zhu, and the color change of the deputy envoy Qin Wuyang, is a faithful reproduction of the historical description in the Records of the Grand Historian, without exaggeration or fabrication. The original text: 「秦王發图,图穷而匕首见。因左手把秦王之袖,而右手持匕首揕之。」(Records of the Grand Historian, Biographies of Assassins, data/raw/shiji/刺客列传.txt)
