  The Records of the Grand Historian, 'Biographies of Ji Bu and Luan Bu,' places Ji Bu and his younger brother Ji Xin in the same chapter, praising his endurance of humiliation and self-respect: 'Yet when subjected to punishment and execution, he became a slave and did not die—how lowly! He must have relied on his own talent, so he endured disgrace without shame, wishing to use what was not yet fulfilled, and thus he finally became a famous general of Han. A worthy man truly values his death.' The History of the Han, 'Biographies of Ji Bu, Luan Bu, and Tian Shu,' inherits the praise 'He relied on his own talent, endured disgrace without shame, wishing to use what was not yet fulfilled, and thus he finally became a famous general of Han,' but also includes Tian Shu in the same chapter, breaking the original pattern of a family joint biography.
