In fiction · Journey to the West
The Yellow River Earl is a water deity in Journey to the West mythology, holding a white jade bowl that can contain the water of the Yellow River. When Sun Wukong fought the独角兕大王 at Jindou Mountain, he requested the Earl's help. The Earl poured the Yellow River's water from his white jade bowl into the cave, but the water failed to flood it, and the attempt to drown the demon was ineffective; his magic treasure was also not taken by the demon's weapon.
