Where the histories differ
Han Huang's specific wording in falsely reporting auspicious salt from the salt pond differs between the two histories.
In the Old Book of Tang, Biography of Yao Lingyan, Zhang Guangsheng, Yuan Xiu, Qiao Lin, Zhang She, Jiang Zhen, Hong Jinglun, Peng Yan, it is recorded that Han Huang's statement was: 「河中盐池生瑞盐，实河中盐池生瑞盐，实土德之上瑞。。」 In the New Book of Tang, Biographies of Rebel Officials, Part 2, it is recorded that his words were: 「韩滉判度支，虑减常赋，妄言池生瑞盐，王德之美祥。」 The auspicious names recorded in the two histories, '河中盐池生瑞盐，实土德之上瑞。' and '王德之美祥', are different.
